Inspired of course by the song made famous by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970. It reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. (It had been written by Jerry Jeff Walker in 1968.) It’s a grand ole tune, about a man in jail in New Orleans, who lifts the spirits of his cell mates when they ask him to dance.
Seeking to capture the soul of this man, I could only imagine how he may have appeared…
